Police Release Video from Burglary at Nonprofit Based in Silver Spring

Montgomery County police detectives released a surveillance video Monday showing a man and woman wanted in connection with a burglary at a Silver Spring office. Police hope someone can identify them.

Police said the burglary occurred about 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at HIAS, an international nonprofit that assists refugees. Its Silver Spring office is at 1300 Spring St.

An employee, who arrived to open the office, discovered the burglary, police said.

Silver Spring police district investigators reviewed surveillance video that showed the people inside the front lobby at about 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5. How the two people were inside the office hasn’t been determined.

The two people stole items from the lobby desk area and from an office, police said.

Anyone who recognizes the two or has information about the burglary is asked to call the Silver Spring police district Investigative Section at 240-773-6870.

To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest or indictment. Tipsters will remain anonymous.
