Rockville to Celebrate Historic New Postage Stamp

Mural Restoration November 2016

It’s not too late to get a second-day issue of Rockville’s historic new postage stamp. City officials will join representatives of the U.S. Postal Service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, to mark the issue of a new forever stamp featuring the Sugarloaf Mountain Mural in the city’s police department lobby.

Following remarks by Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton and post office officials, Peerless Rockville, the city’s historic preservation non-profit will host a reception, stamp sales and a lecture by Kristen Fusselle, a fine arts program manager for the U.S. General Services Administration. The reception, sale and lecture will be held at the Red Brick Courthouse, 29 Courthouse Square in Rockville.
