Spirit Players Contribute to Record-Setting U.S. Women’s World Cup Win

The U.S. National women’s soccer team made history in their 2019 World Cup debut routing Thailand 13-0 on Tuesday in Reims, France. Alex Morgan led the way with a record-tying five goals. Two current Washington Spirit players, Rose Lavelle with two goals and Mallory Pugh with one, contributed to the rousing victory.

 

 

 

 

The U.S. team’s next game is Sunday at noon versus Chile. The Washington Spirit are playing on without Pugh and Lavelle. Their next game is this Saturday on the road against Seattle Reign.
