Street Beat: Reconstruction on Travis Avenue in Gaithersburg

picture of road construction conesGaithersburg’s Department of Public Works will be improving Travis Avenue from the intersection of Maryland Rt. 355 to Watkins Mill Road beginning the week of August 25.

The work will consist of removal and replacement of the deteriorated curb, sidewalk, and driveway aprons and the resurfacing of existing pavement.

The curb, sidewalk and driveway apron replacement will begin approximately the week of August 25th, weather permitting, and will continue for about four weeks. The resurfacing portion of the project will follow.

“No Parking” signs will be posted at least 48 hours in advance of construction activity. City officials said these signs will be marked with the dates and times of the parking restrictions. Residents are advised to not park vehicles on the street during the construction.

Work will take place on weekdays between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information, visit the city’s website.
