UPDATE: Weather Service Issues Flash Flood Warning for Portions of Montgomery

Update: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Southeastern Montgomery County until 9:45 p.m Friday. Radar indicates that Silver Spring and other areas have had two inches of rain in the last 30 minutes.  A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Montgomery County until 11 p.m. Friday.

Slow moving thunderstorms are expected to develop through the evening. Heavy rain from these thunderstorms will pose an elevated threat of flash flooding.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

The NWS urges residents to monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
