Armed Subject Flees Takoma Park Police

Takoma Park Police was patrolling on Walnut Avenue at 12:23 a.m. Friday after receiving several calls from residents who heard gunfire during the past few months.

The plainclothes officer got out of an unmarked vehicle after noticing two people walking south on Walnut Avenue towards Eastern Avenue. Police noticed one person had a handgun and was wearing a face mask. The other wore an orange knit cap.

When the officer identified himself, the suspects fled on foot into the District of Columbia. Police chased the suspects and asked the Metropolitan Police Department to assist, which they did with a K9 unit and a helicopter.

The suspects were not located.
