Keeping Women’s Hearts Healthy

February is American Heart Month, and each year, hospitals, doctors, and other medical providers try to highlight the dangers of heart disease during this time. The goal of this big push in February is to let people know the risks, causes, preventative steps and treatments for this condition.

Adventist HealthCare is trying to get the word out. It will hold a virtual health chat on Feb. 21 from 1-2 p.m. The webinar will feature a panel of doctors and they will discuss the correlation between stress and heart care. The doctors will answer people’s questions and provide tips for controlling stress and limiting its impact on your heart.

Another area of concern is the impact heart disease has on women. About 300,000 women die from heart disease each year.  That makes it the number one killer of women annually. Dr. Daisy Lazarous is a cardiologist with Adventist HealthCare. MCM spoke with her about the risks women face, and the signs and symptoms they should be aware of to keep their bodies healthy:
