Betty White’s 100th Birthday Documentary Premieres at County Theaters

The documentary “Betty White: A Celebration” will be available for viewing exclusively at multiple Montgomery County movie theaters on Jan. 17.

The film was originally titled “Betty White: 100 Years Young – A Birthday Celebration”. It was set to premiere on White’s 100th birthday, but just 17 days prior, on Dec. 31, 2021, she died. Now, the film will be shown as a way to celebrate the life and legacy she left behind as an actress, comedian. and activist. She was probably best known for her appearances on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Golden Girls and multiple game shows including Password and Match Game over her eight-decade career.

Four theaters in the county are scheduled to show the documentary on Jan. 17.

The list includes:

  • AMC Dine-In Rio Cinemas 18 in Gaithersburg
  • Regal Germantown
  • Regal Rockville Center
  • Regal Majestic and IMAX in Silver Spring

Each theater has at least three showtimes throughout the day and will only play the film exclusively on White’s birthday.

White’s death was a loss felt all around by those who loved her including animal rights activists and many shelters. In Montgomery County, the Humane Society will honor her by participating in the #BettyWhiteChallenge which encourages everyone to donate money in White’s name to an animal rescue or local animal shelter on her birthday.
