Despite a surge in positive COVID tests in schools, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) announced Friday afternoon that games and practices can continue as scheduled because of the vaccination requirement for MCPS Athletics. However, the following guidance from the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services was announced:
- All contests during Winter Break (Dec. 23-Jan. 2) are canceled; optional practices are allowed.
- Beginning Monday, Dec. 20, if a team has three or more active positive COVID-19 cases, all team activities must be paused for 14 days (this will begin on Dec. 20, not retroactive).
