Ficker Declares for Congress, Vows To Fight For Trump

Robin Ficker, who has run in many state election races including governor, launched his campaign to run for U.S. Congress in the 6th District on the Republican ticket last week. He ran for this seat in 2016.

District 6, which includes Rockville, Gaithersburg and parts of western Maryland, currently is held by Rep. April McLain Delaney, a Democrat.

Ficker, a Republican from Boyds, has spearheaded several successful referendums on term limits and limiting tax increases. He previously served as a state delegate representing Bethesda. He is a disbarred lawyer who now is a real estate broker.

“I’m running for Congress because Western Maryland deserves a fighter—someone who will stand up for our Sixth District and stand strong with President Trump. For too long, radical liberal elites in Washington and Annapolis have ignored us while our jobs have vanished,” Ficker wrote in a news release.

“I’m committed to bringing jobs back to Western Maryland, widening I-270 to ease our traffic, and working alongside President Trump to slash spending, grow our economy, and keep our communities safe and prosperous,” Ficker said.

In the release, he vowed to “never vote to raise your taxes or increase the deficit. I’ll work to cut red tape and simplify regulations, making it easier to start and run a business.”

He said he will be “a real fighter for President Trump’s vision,” adding, “I’ll stand with President Trump every step of the way to make Western Maryland great again. The first step is securing the border for good, supporting ICE to deport criminal illegal immigrants, and cracking down on fentanyl trafficking in our communities.”
