Gas Prices Surge Nationwide; Maryland Breaks Record 

Gas prices are surging nationwide, including in Montgomery County. 

According to AAA, the national average price for gas is nearly $4.07 per gallon as of Monday. It is close to hitting its highest record, which was $4.11 in July 2008.

The cost of crude oil is rising following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which raises gas prices in the U.S., per a release from AAA. On Monday, Maryland surpassed its own record also set in 2008. The current average gas price in the state is $4.095 per gallon. 

Montgomery County is currently the most expensive in the state, with the county average gas price at $4.177 per gallon. MyMCM spoke with customers at gas stations in Rockville about the rising prices.
