Police Alcohol Holiday Task Force Convenes

Members of the Montgomery County Police Alcohol Holiday Task Force met Wednesday night at the Montgomery County Public Safety Headquarters in Gaithersburg. The night’s agenda included roll call which is a briefing that occurs each evening before the officers begin to patrol the streets and Driving Under the Influence (DUI) traffic stop demonstrations held in the parking lot of Police headquarters.

The task force will be devoting their full time and attention to detecting alcohol-related offenses this holiday season according to the Police Department.

Those in attendance included Chief Marcus Jones, MCPD Chief of Police, Assistant Chief Marc Yamada, MCPD Field Services Bureau, Sergeant Patrick Kepp, MCPD Alcohol Initiatives Unit, a representative from Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) and Rich Leotta, father of fallen MCPD Officer Noah Leotta, who was a  working member of the  annual holiday task force, when he was struck by a drunk driver on Dec.3, 2015. Officer Leotta succumbed to his injuries and died Dec. 10, 2015.
