Last month’s Ride On Food Drive collected 2,309 pounds of non-perishable food, which is 12% more than last year. All the donations were given to the Manna Food Center to distribute, according to the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT).

The Manna Food Center was founded in 1983, with the goal of eliminating food insecurity by providing food resources and promoting healthy eating. Last year they helped over 37,000 people and distributed 3.8 million pounds of food.

The annual Ride On Food Drive took place from May 21 to 27. Bus riders who donated were given a free ride. Donations were also collected at public libraries, regional services centers and the Executive and County Council office buildings.

Even though the food drive is over, the Manna Food Center will still be collecting donations at its warehouse located at 9311 Gaither Road in Gaithersburg. More information on the center can be found here.
