1. Montgomery County Councilmember George Leventhal will hold a news conference today, at 11 a.m.,  to make an announcement regarding the Council’s efforts to end homelessness in the County.

2. It’s officially December Solstice, which means today is the shortest day of the year.

3. Hundreds turned out for a rally against gun violence, hosted by Montgomery County leaders and advocacy groups on Sunday.

4. The Montgomery County Police Department is investigating a stabbing that happened on Dec. 17th. CrimeSolvers is offering a reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s).

5. The Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club is getting into the holiday spirit by hosting a Customer Appreciation Night Holiday Party and Dance with local vocal harmony group The Sapphire Stars tonight at 7:30 p.m.

And one more thing, Montgomery Community Media offices are closed from Dec. 24th to January 3rd.
