23 dogs were placed in protective custody following a Montgomery County Office of Animal Services (OAS) investigation.

Officials executed a search warrant Tuesday at a doggie daycare operating an unlicensed residential business in the 500 block of Silgo Avenue in Silver Spring. The investigation began following a complaint.

The dogs were taken to the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center in Derwood for evaluation and care.

OAS officials did not release information about the business owner or the conditions of the area where the dogs were kept.

As of noon Wednesday, no charges have been filed.

The OAS shelters and cares for the homeless, abused and neglected animals in the county and ensures the safety and welfare of the County’s citizens. It operates the County’s only open-admissions, municipal shelter.
