Olney Theatre Center, 2001 Olney Sandy Spring Rd, Olney, MD 20832, USABranden Jacobs-Jenkins’ searing satire of a family digging through their recently deceased patriarch’s crumbling estate is both gut-splittingly funny and shocking in its confrontation of conveniently forgotten family history. DC-luminaries Kimberly Gilbert (Angels in America) and Cody Nickell (Ink) star as siblings battling over the possession and meaning of their father’s dark patrimony. As the rest of the family descends on the ancestral property in rural Arkansas, old rivalries and grudges are eclipsed by the moral weight of what they find. A forceful, contemporary response to a century’s worth of great works, from All My Sons to Fences to August: Osage County, Appropriate traverses familiar terrain until it suddenly explodes, turbocharging the characters’ journey to its stunning end Join us for a Behind-the-Scenes conversation with Artistic Director Jason Loewith (who also directs Appropriate) and three veteran DMV actors – Rick Foucheux, Craig Wallace, and Erika Rose – who have tackled some of the American family drama’s most iconic roles. Cabin John Middle School, 10701 Gainsborough Rd, Potomac, MD 20854, USABatizado is a traditional capoeira ceremony where new members are officially welcomed into the group and receive their first corda (belt), while continuing members advance to higher levels based on their progress and dedication. Preceding the Batizado, the Capital Games transforms into an electrifying spectacle where capoeiristas from around the world converge to demonstrate extraordinary acrobatic prowess and masterful techniques in dynamic competition. Athletes execute gravity-defying flips, lightning-fast sequences, and precise movements that showcase years of dedicated training, creating an atmosphere charged with energy as participants push the boundaries of what's possible in capoeira. Both milestone events celebrate individual achievement and the bonds of community and friendship that define ACDC, uniting practitioners across continents in their shared passion for this remarkable art form. Free to attend. Rather than charging admission fees that could exclude community members, we conduct a canned food drive, ensuring our event remains open to all while supporting local food banks.

April 2, 2026 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Staged in our black box Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab, this will be a unique staging of one of the most important American plays of the past 15 years.

Made-in-Studio: Glass Fusion
April 3, 2026 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Riverworks Art Center, 19215 Beallsville Rd, Beallsville, MD 20839, USAHave you ever been curious about fusing glass? Come experience it first hand and make a small piece to hang in your window (or your wall) and one to give away to a child who attends Camp Erin, a weekend camp experience for grieving children that is sponsored by Caring Matters*.
The class will provide clear instruction about cutting and chopping glass to construct your piece, show some of the varieties of fused glasses and show you. A few experienced glass cutters will be on hand to help!
Both pieces will be available for view the following week after a kiln firing. You will pick which you want to keep and which you want to donate. If there is time, you may be able to do an additional donation. Because of the nature of the glass and limited tools, there will be an 8 person class limit. Ages 16+ are welcome to join!
Bring your curiosity and your creativity and let’s have fun!

Silver Spring B&O Station February Open House: Streamlined Trains
April 4, 2026 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Silver Spring B&O Railroad Station, 8100 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910, USASpecial Feature: “Streamlined Trains” from 11 am to 12 pm Railroads have played an enormous role in America’s development and culture, none more dramatic in public perception than the iconic 20th-century locomotive and passenger cars designs for the Country’s high end railroad passengers and luxury trains. Beginning in the 1930s, Art Deco emerged as a prominent design theme. For railroads, Art Deco was manifested in streamlining, smooth design and innovative use of interior space and function. Using commentary and slides, David Vaughn will trace and illustrate these dramatic developments, using as examples the works of and rivalry between two well-known 20th-century industrial designers: Raymond Loewy and Henry Dreyfus.
You can also enjoy train spotting and waving at the engineers, a model layout, a toy train play set, photos and memorabilia of the railroad’s glory days and historic Silver Spring, and more!
