77th Montgomery County Agricultural Fair

As one of Montgomery County’s longest-running community traditions, the Fair brings together agriculture, youth programs, and family entertainment across nine days of events.
Highlights include livestock and agricultural exhibits, 4-H and FFA youth showcases, carnival rides, food vendors, contests, and family activities. Grandstand attractions feature Monster Trucks, the Sheehy-sponsored Demolition Derby, Rodeo performances, and Touch-a-Truck.
Additional programming includes the Fair Reading Program for children ages 2–12, home arts competitions such as cheese carving, flower arranging, and fashion shows, and daily entertainment across the fairgrounds.
Children 11 and under receive free admission every day.

22nd Annual Bethesda Painting Awards Exhibition

Gallery B, 7700 Wisconsin Ave E, Bethesda, MD 20814, USAEight painters have been selected as finalists for the Bethesda Painting Awards, a juried competition and exhibition produced by the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District.
Almost 500 artists from Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. submitted work to the annual competition created to exclusively honor regional painters. The top prize winners will be announced on Wednesday, June, 3rd in a private reception. The Best in Show winner will be awarded $10,000; second place will be honored with $2,000 and third place will be awarded $1,000.
The exhibit will be on display June 4 – June 28, 2026 at Gallery B, located at 7700 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite E, Bethesda, MD 20814.
Gallery hours for the duration of the exhibit will be Thursday – Saturday, 12pm – 5pm; Sunday, 11am – 4pm.
There will be a public opening reception on Friday, June 12 at 6pm. This event is free and open to the public.

Gallery B Presents "Color + Light, Part Two"

Gallery B, 7700 Wisconsin Ave E, Bethesda, MD 20814, USAPainters Kathleen Byrnes and Jennifer Howard exhibit their works at Gallery B in November 2025 Kathleen Byrnes has taken to working plein aire, challenging her to work quickly and spontaneously. Byrnes uses the environment to infuse the canvas with mood and emotion. Working in predominantly oil, Byrnes has produced works that explore the light and structure of urban Washington DC, the Virginia and Maryland country side, as well as the inlets, bay, ocean and marshlands of Southern New Jersey. Jennifer Howard is a painter and graphic designer who has lived and worked in Washington, DC for over 37 years. Her paintings are about the moment, the immediacy of paint applied honestly, thickly and emotionally on canvas. She strives to convey a textural quality to the surface with layers of color and an emphasis on capturing light.
The exhibition runs from November 6 – November 30. Gallery hours are Thursdays-Saturdays, 12-5pm, and Sundays 11am-2pm. The gallery will be closed November 27-28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

2026 Hey Cousin Culture Fest

Hey Cousin! The 4th annual Hey Cousin Culture Fest: Celebrating Black Joy @ The Plaza will feature art, apparel, authors, crafts, non-profit, community organizations, and a variety of food vendors.
All will be entertained by performances from local artists and dance teams, and a DJ spinning all day! Stay tuned as performances are confirmed, a line-up will be announced.
This is a FREE to attend, community event, open to everyone!

A Community of Handweavers: Bridging Tradition & Innovation Reception

Sandy Spring Museum, 17901 Bentley Rd, Sandy Spring, MD 20860, USAJoin us for an opening reception celebrating A Community of Handweavers: Bridging Tradition and Innovation by the Weavers Guild of Greater Baltimore (WGGB).
The exhibition highlights the enduring role of weaving in American life, from its roots in early domestic and industrial practices to its place in contemporary artistic expression. As we mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the show reflects on how textiles have served as both everyday necessities and powerful forms of cultural and political expression—an influence that continues in the work of weavers today.
Many works draw on historical traditions, referencing coverlets and overshot patterns while incorporating materials such as cotton, flax, natural dyes, and locally sourced wool. At the same time, the exhibition emphasizes weaving as an evolving practice, integrating modern fibers, tools, and experimental techniques.
Through inspirations ranging from photography to crochet patterns, and approaches that expand weaving into sculptural and collaborative forms, the artists demonstrate how tradition and innovation remain deeply connected. Together, the works present weaving as a living, adaptive practice shaped by community, creativity, and ongoing exploration.
To further explore the art of fiber making, visitors are also invited to join WGGB’s hands-on demonstration, Hands on the Loom: Exploring Spinning and Weaving Techniques, offered on October 18 and November 1, where participants can experience traditional spinning and weaving techniques firsthand.

How to Find Unique Records from Ukrainian Archives without Knowing Russian or Ukrainian

Samuel (Sammy) Lerner will be demonstrating how he has developed a multistep process for finding unique records from the Ukrainian Archives going beyond revisionist lists and vital records.
This one-hour program, conducted over Zoom at 1:30 pm EDT, is free for members. This is one of the many activities that is a benefit of JGSGW membership.
Samuel (Sammy) Lerner is a professional genealogist and founder of Learning Your Lineage. He has been actively engaged in his own family history and the family history of others for multiple years. His passion for genealogy has led him to participate in the JewishGen Future Scholars Fellowship in 2023, index handwritten Russian-language material that appeared on JewishGen’s website, speak at IAJGS conferences, and continuously research for unique records through multiple avenues. He is also a graduate of Washington & Jefferson College with a major in Neuroscience and a minor in Russian Studies.

Event Description:
Our Annual New Life SDA Church Community Festival & Health Fair is a celebration of community, compassion, and care. Each year, we provide families with fresh produce, school supplies, and whole-person wellness services — completely free of charge. This is all funded using donated funds from our congregation. Held across our church campus, including the parking lot, fellowship hall, and classrooms, every service offered is made possible by our dedicated volunteers. Students are also welcome to volunteer — SSL hours are available for all student volunteers, making this a meaningful way to serve while fulfilling community service requirements. Our goal for this event is serve our community and to make our children feel confident and ready for the school year ahead. We aim to make the return to school fun!
Registration is free but required for planning purposes. We expect about 250 people; we will provide 125 backpacks and enough produce for 100 families.Key Activities:

Ingrid & Mollie’s Jennie the Cat: Jennie’s Beach Day

Along the way she'll meet some new friends, practice sharing, and learn to be brave. This puppet show features soft hand puppets and original music, along with plenty of chances for the audience to sing and dance along! This Ingrid & Mollie show is made for the child within us all, and especially for ages 2-8.

Glenn Leonard's Temptations Revue

It’s a dynamic show with 5 vocalists that have all the choreography, personality, talent and style of the originals, including the legendary former lead tenor! Glenn Leonard served as their lead tenor from 1975-83, and recorded 10 albums with the group, including his signature Temptations version of “Silent Night,” which is one of the most played songs on the radio, worldwide, at Christmas time. Glenn also performed and recorded with all of the original members during the famed Temptations Reunion Tour in 1982. Rounding out this dynamic lineup are Shelton Price, Melvin Franklin, Jr., former Atlantic Records recording artist Kareem Ali, and one of the most powerful voices in the business, Andre Jackson! All are longtime members of Glenn Leonard’s Temptations Revue! Glenn Leonard’s Temptations Revue, with their full band, perform all the hit songs that fans know and love!

22nd Annual Bethesda Painting Awards Exhibition

Gallery B, 7700 Wisconsin Ave E, Bethesda, MD 20814, USAEight painters have been selected as finalists for the Bethesda Painting Awards, a juried competition and exhibition produced by the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District.
Almost 500 artists from Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. submitted work to the annual competition created to exclusively honor regional painters. The top prize winners will be announced on Wednesday, June, 3rd in a private reception. The Best in Show winner will be awarded $10,000; second place will be honored with $2,000 and third place will be awarded $1,000.
The exhibit will be on display June 4 – June 28, 2026 at Gallery B, located at 7700 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite E, Bethesda, MD 20814.
Gallery hours for the duration of the exhibit will be Thursday – Saturday, 12pm – 5pm; Sunday, 11am – 4pm.
There will be a public opening reception on Friday, June 12 at 6pm. This event is free and open to the public.

Gallery B Presents "Color + Light, Part Two"

Gallery B, 7700 Wisconsin Ave E, Bethesda, MD 20814, USAPainters Kathleen Byrnes and Jennifer Howard exhibit their works at Gallery B in November 2025 Kathleen Byrnes has taken to working plein aire, challenging her to work quickly and spontaneously. Byrnes uses the environment to infuse the canvas with mood and emotion. Working in predominantly oil, Byrnes has produced works that explore the light and structure of urban Washington DC, the Virginia and Maryland country side, as well as the inlets, bay, ocean and marshlands of Southern New Jersey. Jennifer Howard is a painter and graphic designer who has lived and worked in Washington, DC for over 37 years. Her paintings are about the moment, the immediacy of paint applied honestly, thickly and emotionally on canvas. She strives to convey a textural quality to the surface with layers of color and an emphasis on capturing light.
The exhibition runs from November 6 – November 30. Gallery hours are Thursdays-Saturdays, 12-5pm, and Sundays 11am-2pm. The gallery will be closed November 27-28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Alfred Yun at the Silver Spring Jazz Festival

Veterans Plaza, 1 Veterans Pl, Silver Spring, MD 20910, USAAlfred Yun is a Korean-American jazz pianist and composer. His music is influenced by his upbringing in both Korea and the United States. You can hear influences ranging from jazz, hip hop, and K-Pop to traditional Korean music in Alfred Yun’s compositions.
Alfred was honored to be chosen by the Music Center At Strathmore as an Artist-in-Residence for the 2023-2024 season. This includes featured concerts at Strathmore’s prestigious AMP club in January and participating in programs throughout the season. In 2026, Alfred Yun was selected to be part of the Jazz and Sonic Arts: Improvised Music Residency at the Banff Centre for Art and Creativity.
In 2025, Alfred Yun released his album, Voice and Phenomenon, which investigates the different ways we use the voice — gibberish, games, poems, singing, spoken word, laughter, and more. The album invites the listener into an intimate account of these disparate voices and sounds. It is the most personal and revealing work of his career. Voice and Phenomenon was listed on Capital Bop's Top DC Jazz Albums of 2025.
