5 Things to Know Today, April 15, In Montgomery County

It’s Monday, April 15 and here are five things to know. Check the weather forecast here.

1. Council President Briefing: Council President Andrew Friedson’s weekly media briefing is scheduled today at 11:30 a.m.  Friedson is expected to discuss the Council’s continuing work on the proposed operating budget for FY25. Watch today’s briefing on the Council’s Facebook page here.

2. Council Meetings:  Committees will review operating budgets for multiple departments and non-departmental accounts today. Committee meetings are televised live on County Cable Montgomery or streamed live at http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/council/ondemand/index.html. Videos are archived and available 24 hours after each meeting concludes.

3. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet for a regular session at 7:30 p.m. The agenda and agenda packet are available online. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 6 p.m. Find the meeting agenda online. The public may join both meetings in person or virtually.

4. Saturday’s Upcounty Gun Buyback Event: Mark your calendar and let others know about the gun buyback event Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the United Church of Christ of Seneca Valley in Germantown.

5. Citizen Academy: Did you know Montgomery County Police Department holds a multi-week course for residents to learn about the function of the police department? Last week, a group of 12 community members graduated. Take a look:
