1. Schools Closed: Today is a professional day for Montgomery County Public Schools’ teachers, so students have the day off.

2. Coffee with a Cop: Members of the Rockville City Police Department hope to share a cup of coffee and conversation today at 10 a.m. at the Fresh Baguette on Hungerford Drive.

3. 2nd Annual Youth Climate Summit: The public school district hosts its 2nd annual Youth Climate Summit on Saturday April 22 at Tilden Middle School. The full-day conference will teach middle and high school students about climate change and give them tools to develop a Climate Action Plan for their communities. There will also be various speakers and workshops showing how to get involved in the climate movement.

4. Earth Day Celebrations: The county’s annual event takes place this weekend and has grown into a two-day celebration. On Saturday, GreenFest in the Gardens will be held at Brookside Gardens. There will be environmental non-profits with booths, master gardening plant clinic, and demonstrations on sustainable gardening and composting. On Sunday, GreenFest in the City takes place at the Marian Fryer Town Plaza in downtown Wheaton.

5. Rockville Road Closures for 10K Road Race: There will be rolling road closures and detours in Rockville Sunday morning as runners participate in the annual Pike’s Peek 10K race.

And One More Thing: The 32nd Annual Rockville Science Day takes place Sunday, April 23 from Noon to 5 p.m. on the Rockville campus of Montgomery College. This free event features a variety of science and technology-related exhibits, activities, games and demonstrations.
