Taylor — a case brought forth in 2023 by Montgomery County parents. The parents seek the right to opt their children out of reading LGBTQ+ books included in the school curriculum.

3. Residents Rally For Release of Abrego Garcia: About 75 people carried signs and chanted “Free Kilmar Garcia Now” Monday as they rallied in front of the El Salvadorian Consulate in Silver Spring.

Kensington Day of the Book Festival Coming April 27: The 18th annual Kensington Day of the Book Festival, a family-friendly book festival with a variety of games and activities, will be held on Sunday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival will span three blocks of Howard Avenue in Kensington.

5. Olney Residents Protest Presidential Overreach: Saturday marked the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. And while others reenacted the first battles at Lexington and Concord, people in Olney stepped out to make their own “shot heard round the world.” Their protest was part of No Kings Day, a nationwide effort to call attention to what some feel are threats to the Constitution.
