1. Transition Day: While Tuesday is the first day of school for all Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students, today is MCPS’ first-ever Transition Day for students attending a new school for the first time.
2. School District Working to End Backlog of Criminal Background Checks: All MCPS staff have been fingerprinted, but there remains a backlog of employees whose records have not been added to the FBI’s Record of Arrest and Prosecution database or Child Protective Services.

3. School Bus Rules of the Road for Drivers: With the new school year starting, Montgomery County drivers will encounter school buses during their commutes or regular driving hours. Here are some rules of the road to remember as school gets back in session.
