1. Bill Signed to Give Hiring Preference to Fired Federal Workers: A bill was signed into law Thursday to give fired federal workers preference when applying for county jobs.
2. Heat Emergency Alert: The county is under a Heat Emergency Alert starting at 8 a.m. today until 8 a.m. Monday.

3. Council Votes to Allow Multiple Types of Housing Along Certain Areas: By a vote of 8 to 3 this week, county councilmembers adopted a bill that allows for duplexes, triplexes, townhouses and apartments in areas throughout the county that are along public transportation corridors, major roads and town centers.
