5 Things to Know Today, July 31, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, July 31 and here are five things to know today. Weather forecasters tell us to expect a partly cloudy day with highs in the mid 80s.

1. Montgomery College: Four Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus buildings are closed today due to a power outage.

2. Olney Swim Center Closure: Annual maintenance and cleaning closes the Olney Swim Center now through Sunday, Aug. 20. Find the Recreation Department’s summer closing schedule online here.

3. Pedestrian Safety: The MCDOT Pedestrian Safety Team will be outside the Giant Food on Cherry Hill Road in Silver Spring to promote pedestrian, driving, and bike safety to the residents of Montgomery County from 4 to 8 p.m.

4. County Library Literacy Program:  The Read Across Generations program pairs students in kindergarten through third grade with a volunteer.
