5 Things to Know Today, March 24, In Montgomery County

Today is Friday, March 24. Here are 5 things to know and the 10 day weather forecast as we head into the weekend.

1. County Energy Summit Registration: Today is the last day to register online for next week’s Energy Summit. Learn more about this year’s forum.

2. Fentanyl Awareness Forum takes place at Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Starting substance use conversations, healthy boundaries vs. “Tough Love”, emergency response, and safety at home and at school are topics for the meeting. Sessions will be conducted in both English and Spanish. Those interested in attending should RSVP with Montgomery County Public Schools.

3. Recreation Summer Job Fair: The county recreation department is looking for summer employees and will hold a job fair Saturday at the White Oak Community Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

4. Metro Red Line: WMATA increases service to the Red Line Saturday. Trains will run every eight minutes through 9:30 p.m.

5. Resource Fair: This event is for teens and young adults with developmental challenges and autism. It focuses on the transition from high school to more independent living and takes place at Montgomery College Rockville Campus Sunday, March 26 from 1 to 4 p.m.

And One More Thing: Saturday is Maryland Day, which commemorates the day in 1634 when European settlers first arrived in Maryland. They sailed aboard the Ark and the Dove and landed at St. Clements Island in the Potomac River.
