It’s Monday, Nov. 10, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County. Check the weather forecast here.
1. Leaf Collection: Montgomery County will begin picking up leaves today, but officials prefer residents “leave the leaves.”
2. Federal Family Lunch Day: Last week, furloughed workers who have children in Montgomery County Public Schools were invited to have lunch with their students at school.
3. Community Conversation: Tonight, County Executive Marc Elrich hosts a meeting to get input from residents on the next operating budget. Tonight’s forum will be held for the Black and African American community. The meeting will be 7-8:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Rockville. See more here.
4. Food Resources: People impacted by the government shutdown can find food resources here.

5. ICYMI: Many residents of Seneca Heights Apartments in Gaithersburg have faced serious setbacks in their lives, including spending time living on the streets, but thanks to funding from Montgomery County and the federal Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), they are living in their own apartments now and getting their lives together. That could all change, and quickly, if a proposal by the U.S. Congress to slash PSH funding by 70% is adopted.
