5 Things to Know Today, Nov. 20, In Montgomery County

1. Schools Close Early: The public schools release students early today and tomorrow.

2. Latin Dance Competition: The sold out annual dance competition takes place at The Music Center at Strathmore this evening at 6:30 p.m. The county’s high school Latin dance program started in 1999 at Seneca Valley High School. The competition features the dance categories Salsa, Chacha, Merengue, Bachata, Jack and Jill, Parent/ Student, and Best in Show (Group).

3. Rockville Mayor and Council Meet: The new Rockville Mayor and Council were sworn in Sunday and will meet for the first time at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The agenda with supporting documents is available online.

4. Gaithersburg Mayor and City Council Meet: Mayor Jud Ashman will swear in Neil Harris, Robert Wu and Yamil Hernández  this evening at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Harris, Wu, and Hernandez will serve a four-year term on the City Council. The agenda is available online.

5. Gaithersburg Winter Lights Leashes ‘n Lights: Bring your pooch to Winter Lights for a 1 or 3-mile walk. Tickets are $12 per person. Dog admission is free. Purchase tickets here.
