Ashman Running for Council: Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman will run for County Council against Rockville City Councilmember Izola Shaw in the June 2026 Democratic Primary to represent District 3, which includes the cities of Gaithersburg, Rockville and Washington Grove. Ashman is also a board member at Montgomery Community Media.

2. Thanksgiving Parade: The Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade is happening tomorrow from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in downtown Silver Spring. See more here

3. ‘Disaster in the Making’: For a county with more than 1,500 miles of streams, a plan from the Trump administration to limit which waterways are federally protected could pose a problem, according to County Executive Marc Elrich.

4. Affordable Apartments for Seniors ‘Topped Off’ in Wheaton: Although it won’t welcome its first residents until the fall of 2026, a “topping off” event was held Thursday for a 90-unit senior housing complex currently under construction on University Boulevard West in Wheaton.

5. New School Board President: Grace Rivera-Oven was named the new president of the Montgomery County Board of Education, and Brenda Wolff was named the new board vice president. The positions take effect Dec. 1.
