3. School Facilities: The Montgomery County Board of Education voted to approve a more than $2.7 billion in upgrades to school facilities under the superintendent’s Capital Improvements Program and budget. The fate of Silver Spring International Middle School is not yet finalized.

ICYMI: Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman will run for County Council against Rockville City Councilmember Izola Shaw in the June 2026 Democratic Primary to represent District 3, which includes the cities of Gaithersburg, Rockville and Washington Grove. Ashman is also a board member at Montgomery Community Media.
