5 Things to Know Today, Nov. 27, In Montgomery County

1. Council President Briefing: Council President Evan Glass’ weekly media briefing is scheduled for today at 1 p.m. Glass is expected to discuss the Council’s Anti-Hate Task Force’s final meeting and presentation to the Council on Dec. 5 and an upcoming press conference announcing a new zoning measure that would update parking requirements for areas near public transit to encourage car-free living, housing development and a greener community. 2. Budget Forum: From 7-8:30 p.m., County Executive Marc Elrich will host a community conversation on the FY25 budget at the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center in Gaithersburg. This forum will be held in the Chinese language.

3. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet at 7:30 p.m. for a work session. The agenda and agenda packet are available online. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 7 p.m.

4. Night Hike: Explore the Black Hill Regional park with a post-sunset stroll from 5 to 6 p.m. Look and listen for creatures that are most active at night. Hikes are one mile or less. Dress warmly. Register here.

5. Good to Know: The Silver Spring Ice Skating Rink at Veterans Plaza is now open from noon to 11 p.m. on weekends and noon to 10 p.m. on weekdays.
