2. The Heat Is On – How To Handle It: The first major heat wave of the summer hits the county this week. Temperatures may hit at least 100 degrees and coupled with the humidity, it could feel like 110 degrees outside. Libraries, county buildings, recreation centers, and indoor shopping malls are just some of the places residents can visit that have air-conditioning.

3. African Cemetery Coalition Pickets County Juneteenth Event: Over the weekend, members of the Bethesda African Cemetery Coalition (BACC) passed out flyers and relayed their message through a megaphone that everyone should boycott the county’s Juneteenth celebration.

4. Council: The county council will meet today starting at 9:15 a.m. The meeting will be livestreamed on YouTube @MoCoCouncilMD.

5. ICYMI: While a large-scale parade was gearing up in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the Army’s anniversary — coinciding with President Donald Trump’s birthday — protesters across the nation, including in Montgomery County, used the day to speak out against the actions of the Trump administration. MCM was at multiple “No Kings” protest locations on June 14, including Silver Spring, Rockville Pike, Olney, and Garrett Park.
