Rockville Town Square will host gamers for a local meetup of the global Pokémon GO Fest on June 28 and 29.
The worldwide event invites players to unlock special bonuses and encounter a new character by purchasing a ticket on the game’s website.
In Pokémon Go, players capture digital characters from the Japanese franchise while moving around the real world. The festivities will take place on the popular mobile app, allowing anyone to play remotely.
While the official in-person events will take place in New Jersey, France and Japan, the Rockville meet-up invites local gamers to celebrate the festival together.
The meet-up is organized by the “Rockville Town Square” group of the Campfire app, a service dedicated to connecting players, also known as “trainers.”
The event is free and open to all. Local players will meet from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days.
