Potomac Native Completes His Second U.S. Adaptive Open

Potomac native Ford Martin finished out his second U.S. Adaptive Open on Wednesday.

He finished in a tie for 10th place in the coordination impairment category, according to the United States Golf Association (USGA).

“While the week didn’t go quite as local product Ford Martin of Potomac, Md., had hoped, he showed resiliency in posting a lower score over his inward nine in each of the three rounds than on his outward nine,” reads an article from USGA.

“It was a little rough start on the front nine, but got the train back on the tracks on the back nine,” Martin told MCM on Monday after his first round.

Martin, who has bilateral neurogenic clubfoot, wears orthotics on both feet. Golfers with impairments from around the world competed in the tournament at Woodmont Country Club.

Martin told MCM he was “incredibly surprised with how many people were out here watching, which is great to see.”
