
A tractor-trailer dangled off the side of the Beltway Bridge following a crash early on Thursday morning. The incident happened near Old Georgetown Road (MD-187).
It caused the Outer Loop on the Capital Beltway to close weill into morning rush hour.
The accident pinned the driver to the cab of the vehicle. According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, crews examined him before he was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The tractor-trailer carried refrigerated mushrooms, which spilled onto the road along with fuel from the vehicle.
Beltway drivers were rerouted to MD-187. According to the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination (MATOC), drivers should expect extended closures as crews remove the vehicle from the bridge.
