Just before 10:40 a.m. Wednesday morning, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a U.S. Postal van near the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Plyers Mill Road in Kensington.
The van, preparing to turn onto Connecticut Avenue from the Mobil gas station, struck a woman crossing the apron of the Mobil driveway, according to a news release from the Montgomery County Police Department.
Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and extricated the pedestrian from the scene. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
MCPD will release more information, including the identity of the deceased, upon notification of next of kin.
