
Montgomery County Police have arrested a suspect in the 1995 homicide of Deena Fredericka Campbell, 24, a D. C. Metropolitan Police officer.
Amir Jalil Ali, also known as Kenneth Burnell Wonsom, was arrested. According to Montgomery County police, he was her live-in boyfriend.
Campbell, a four-year veteran of the police force, was found shot to death in her White Oak apartment on September 16, 1995. According to other news sources, she was shot five times and her service revolver was missing and never recovered.
Ali originally was charged with first degree murder in this case. But charges were dropped two months later for reasons that remain unknown.
Montgomery County Police will hold a news conference Wednesday concerning the arrest in this cold case.
An arrest was made in a 30-year-old cold case involving the murder of a DC Metropolitan police officer. A news conference will be held on Wednesday, August 6, where additional details will be provided.
