Public Safety Fair Coming in September to Wheaton

The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security will hold the free “Ready Montgomery” fair on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Wheaton Regional Park.

“Emergencies and disasters can strike at any time, and being prepared can make the difference between life and death or serious injury,” said County Executive Elrich. He encourages residents to attend to “…learn how to take proactive steps to protect themselves and their loved ones.”

In recognition of National Preparedness Month, the safety fair will feature:

  • CPR and AED training
  • Bleeding control demonstrations
  • Emergency preparedness talks
  • Public safety resource tables

On the lighter side, there will also be face painting, giveaways and lawn games.

Other groups participating at the fair include County Community Organizations Active in Disaster, Community Emergency Response Team, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute Emergency Management Division, So What Else!, Meals on Wheels of Takoma Park/Silver Spring, and Maryland Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster organizations.

Wheaton Regional Park is located at 11729 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring. The fair will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
