Police said a Derwood man was charged for killing his mother. His roommate was also charged, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
Daniel Paul Shay, 60, is charged with first-degree murder for the death of 81-year-old Victoria Ellen Shay.
Dwayne Anthony Embrey, 59, who is Daniel Shay’s roommate, allegedly helped dispose of the body. He is charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.
According to police, on Friday officers went to the 18600 block of Muncaster Road in Derwood for the report of a missing woman. A caller said that Victoria Shay was missing from the home she shared with her son and his roommate.
Officers searched the home and found evidence a crime may have happened. Daniel Shay said he had not seen his mother in days and did not know where she was, according to police. During investigation, detectives learned that Victoria Shay’s body was left around Route 124 and Brink Road in Laytonsville. They also got a search warrant and found additional evidence in the home, according to police.
Detectives got arrest warrants for the two men over the weekend.
Victoria Shay’s death is being investigated as a homicide, according to police. Official autopsy results are pending.
