A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot late Tuesday in the Long Branch area of Silver Spring, according to Montgomery County police.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 700 block of University Boulevard East and is being investigated as a homicide. Officers, who responded to calls about shots fired and a person lying in the roadway, pronounced the boy dead at the scene.
Two other people were found at the scene but were not injured, said police.
As of Wednesday morning, there are no suspects in custody and no information available on who may have fired the gunshots.
The investigation remains active. The name of the victim will be shared after notifying next of kin.
