Class is coming back in session for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). Families and staff were at the back-to-school fair Saturday at Westfield Wheaton mall ahead of the academic year, which begins in a new federal landscape.
When it comes to immigration enforcement, MCPS officials want families to know that schools are safe and that MCPS has strict rules related to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). There are also community partners that can support families.
Monday was the school system’s first-ever transition day for kindergartners, sixth graders and ninth graders, as well as for students attending a new school for the first time. Tuesday is the official first day of school for all MCPS students.
