1. Honoring 9/11 Heroes: 24 years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, local community members paid tribute Thursday to firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice. At Rio in Gaithersburg, Montgomery County firefighters — some wearing an oxygen tank for symbolic reasons — and other participants climbed stairs until they reached the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.

2. Purple Line: The intersection of Wayne Avenue and Fenton Street is now reopened in downtown Silver Spring after Purple Line work.

4. Recreation Center Closed: The Germantown Community Recreation Center will be closed through Sunday for annual maintenance and cleaning.

5. ICYMI: Last week, U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin answered questions from Montgomery County constituents about federal actions during a phone town hall. More than 15,000 people joined the call, according to the congressman.
