1. Delaney Vows to Protect Back Pay: As a government shutdown continues, U.S. Rep. April McClain Delaney, D-Md., said this week that she will fight to make sure federal workers get back pay.

2. Teen Halloween Party: From 7-9 p.m. tonight, the county’s recreation department hosts a free Boos and Beats Teen Halloween Costume Party at the East County Community Recreation Center in Fairland. See more here.

3. Red Line Track Work: Metro is doing Red Line track work Saturday through Monday. Trains will single-track between the Silver Spring and Forest Glen stations as crews do tunnel leak mitigation. See more here.

4. Oktoberfest: Gaithersburg’s Oktoberfest returns Sunday from 12-5 p.m. around the Kentlands. Admission and parking are free. See more here.
