D.C. Man Charged with Robbing Multiple Pizza Restaurants

Two Washington, D.C., residents were arrested Tuesday and charged with an armed robbery at Manny & Olga’s Pizza in Bethesda on Oct. 8.

Following an investigation, one of the suspects was charged with robberies at several other Montgomery County pizza restaurants.

Terrance Barfield, 22, and Jaylen Cunningham, 18, were arrested in connection with the 10:30 p.m. burglary in Bethesda. Montgomery County police officers were surveilling the central business district in Bethesda when they saw two people enter the pizza parlor on Woodmont Avenue.

When the men left the restaurant, they got into a silver Hyundai Tucson, which officers determined had been reported stolen in Prince George’s County Oct. 7. They stopped the vehicle near Jones Bridge Road and Grier Road in Chevy Chase and took both men into custody, according to a news release.

After being told by an employee at Manny & Olga’s that two men had entered the store and demanded money from the register, police conducted an investigation. The employee told police one of the suspects implied he had a weapon, took the cash and left.

Police determined the two men in the stolen car were responsible for the robbery, according to a news release.

Further investigation led police to charge Barfield with three additional armed robberies of pizza restaurants in Montgomery County between Sept. 23 and Oct. 1.

Those restaurants are Domino’s Pizza on St. Elmo Avenue in Bethesda, Pizza Hut on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring and Papa John’s on 47th Street in Chevy Chase.

Both suspects are being held without bond.
