Large-scale illegal car rallies were stopped on Jan. 2, including one that was set to occur at 702 King Farm Boulevard in Rockville, according to Maryland State Police.
The Maryland Car Rally Task Force, along with partner law enforcement agencies, dismantled four illegal car rallies in Hyattsville, Beltsville and Upper Marlboro. Another three, including the one in Rockville and in Columbia and Capitol Heights, were prevented from starting.
Two 17-year-old males, both of Silver Spring, Maryland, were arrested by Maryland State Police on charges of possession of a loaded handgun in vehicle and possession of a handgun in vehicle.
The operation began Jan. 2 at 9 p.m. and focused on public roads, industrial zones and parking lots in Howard, Prince George’s and Montgomery counties.
