Strong winds swept through parts of Montgomery County on Wednesday, bringing down trees and power lines and forcing road closures in several communities, including along Laytonsville Road.
According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, emergency crews responded to multiple calls for fallen trees and storm damage across the county as powerful wind gusts moved through the region.
One of the affected areas was Laytonsville Road, where a large tree fell across part of the roadway. Crews worked to clear the debris and reopen the road while ensuring power lines in the area were safe.
The strong winds also caused scattered power outages in the region. Utility crews worked throughout the day to restore service to affected homes and businesses as quickly as possible.
Storm damage was reported in several neighborhoods across Montgomery County, where downed branches and trees were seen on residential streets and near homes. While no major injuries were reported, officials reminded residents to stay away from downed power lines and report hazardous conditions to authorities.
Weather officials say gusty conditions were part of a weather system that moved across the Washington metropolitan area, bringing brief but powerful winds capable of toppling trees weakened by saturated ground and recent weather.
Officials say cleanup efforts may continue as crews inspect roads and remove debris left behind by the storm.
