Blake boys capture first state title in hoops

Mission accomplished for James Hubert Blake High School boys basketball. The Bengals are Class 4A Maryland state champions after beating Walt Whitman 60-44 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County on Saturday.

Blake was a pre-season favorite to get this far, especially with highly touted prospect Baba Oladotun. The Maryland commit though, missed most of the season with an injured ankle. He returned for the final two games to help Blake capture the school’s first state title.

Under first year coach Brandon Howell, Blake reeled off 21 straight wins to close out the season.
