5 things to know today, June 2, in Montgomery County

It’s Tuesday, June 2, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County. Check the weather forecast here.

1. Voter Registration Deadline: 5 p.m. is the deadline to register in advance for primary Election Day or to update name, address, and party for the June 23 primary.  See more here

2. ICE-related bills signed into law: Four bills related to immigration enforcement in Montgomery County have been signed into law: the County Values Act , the Unmask ICE Act, the ICE Out Act and the Vehicle Recovery Act.

3. Tracing Freedom: At 2 p.m., Montgomery History will host a webinar on former sites of enslavement and historic Black communities in Montgomery County. Register here

4. Ride On Flex Service Update: Starting next month, Ride On Flex on-demand bus service will end in the Rockville and Glenmont/Wheaton zones. It will continue in the Sandy Spring and White Oak areas. See more here

5. ICYMI: More than 400 school jobs are planned to be cut by the Montgomery County Public Schools superintendent in order to make up for funding schools did not get in the fiscal year 2027 budget. Among the planned job cuts are social workers. MCM spoke with some of them earlier this month when large-scale staff reductions were first introduced.
