World Cup Security: Increased Vigilance, no Increase in Staffing
As the region prepares for World Cup-related activities, Montgomery County officials addressed concerns regarding public safety and law enforcement operations.
Officials said there are no plans to increase the number of police officers assigned during World Cup-related events in the county. Instead, officers will maintain heightened awareness and enforcement efforts.
“Nothing changes with officers. The same number of officers. They’ll just be more vigilant in their enforcement,” Elrich told MCM News.
Officials also reminded residents that sobriety checkpoints and traffic enforcement efforts may occur, though locations are not publicly announced in advance.
“You’re not going to be able to predict where you’d go.” Added Elrich.
