Two women were found dead and one firefighter injured in a Silver Spring house fire.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a house fire call at 2400 block of Harmon Road in Silver Spring on Sunday, at around 4:18 a.m. The call came from a Montgomery County EMS unit returning from transporting a patient to the hospital. They saw a haze on Georgia Avenue near Plyers Mill Rd and went to investigate. The EMS unit located a fire and called it in.
The fire was found on the second floor of the house with no residents outside, officials say. After conducting a thorough search, fire personnel located two adult women in the house. They were pronounced dead on the scene.
One firefighter was transported with a non-life threatening injury.
Officials say the cause of the fire remains unknown. No new information regarding the identities of the victims has been released.
