Bethesda’s Imagination Stage Receives National Grant

Imagination Stage has received an exclusive three-year grant from the Kaiser Permanente Fund at the East Bay Community Foundation to bring educational theatre programming around the country. The grant will also allow Imagination Stage to double the number of children they can reach within the DC Metropolitan area.

Kaiser Permanente’s Thriving Schools initiative has been investing in educational health theatre for over 30 years. Imagination Stage joins this initiative by expanding its theatrical productions with a focus on children’s mental health education. The productions will be free for participating schools in all 50 states. It’s an effort to make health education more accessible and help strengthen students’ emotional well-being.

Established in 1979, Imagination Stage’s aims to support and educate children through the arts. They are excited to be able to continue this on a larger scale.

Imagination Stage’s Chief Artistic Programming Officer Joanne Lamparter shares enthusiasm about this opportunity to “Expand our work to include touring plays and workshops to schools throughout the country.” She adds, “Imagination Stage is fully aligned with Kaiser Permanente in their mission to support the wellness and mental health of young people.”

Kaiser Permanente Youth and School Engagement’s Executive Director Annie Reed confirms Kaiser’s excitement over this partnership to “…continue to ensure that teachers, staff, and students have the support they need to thrive in learning and in health.”
