Bethesda’s Imagination Stage Receives National Grant

Imagination Stage has received an exclusive three-year grant from the Kaiser Permanente Fund at the East Bay Community Foundation to bring educational theatre programming to Kaiser serviced areas around the country. The grant will introduce Imagination Stage to 130,000 children, doubling their current outreach.

Kaiser Permanente’s Thriving Schools initiative has been investing in educational health theatre for over 30 years. Imagination Stage joins this initiative with a focus on children’s mental health education. The productions will be free for participating schools in California, Washington State, Oregon, Hawaii, Colorado, Georgia and the Mid-Atlantic Region. The program aims to make health education more accessible and help strengthen students’ emotional well-being.

Established in 1979, Imagination Stage’s supports and educates children through the arts. The non-profit children’s theater is excited to expand its reach.

Imagination Stage’s Chief Artistic Programming Officer Joanne Lamparter shares enthusiasm about this opportunity to “Expand our work to include touring plays and workshops to schools throughout the country.” She adds, “Imagination Stage is fully aligned with Kaiser Permanente in their mission to support the wellness and mental health of young people.”

Kaiser Permanente Youth and School Engagement’s Executive Director Annie Reed confirms Kaiser’s excitement over this partnership to “…continue to ensure that teachers, staff, and students have the support they need to thrive in learning and in health.”
