Bethesda’s Kiki Rice wins hoops title with UCLA

Kiki Rice made the surprise move fours ago to play basketball across the country at UCLA. That decision turned out to be the right one and then some. On Sunday, the Bethesda native helped UCLA win its first ever NCAA women’s basketball championship.

Rice, a senior guard, scored 10 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 4 assists in UCLA’s 79-51 lopsided win over South Carolina in Phoenix, Arizona.

Rice averaged 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists this season leading UCLA to a 37-1 record and a national championship. Rice is a projected top 5 pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft.

As one of the top recruits in the nation in 2022 coming out of Sidwell Friends High School in Washington, D.C. Rice chose not to play at a traditional power. Instead, she wanted to build something at UCLA. Safe to say, mission accomplished.
