Black History Month Historical Highlights: Hebron House and Print Shop

For more than half a century, Jesse and Celestine Hebron managed a successful printing business in Rockville. Jesse Hebron initially started the business on Falls Road in 1932, and it grew to become one of the most prosperous black-owned ventures in the county.

Following the Hebron’s marriage in 1938, Jesse left to serve in the Army during World War II, returning in 1945 after an honorable discharge. The Hebrons then relocated both their residence and business to Wood Lane in Rockville.

MCM partnered with Montgomery History to spotlight historical figures and stories in the community for Black History Month. Through this collaboration, we aim to promote understanding and appreciation of the rich history of African Americans in Montgomery County.
